Fear

At the beginning of the Great Depression, people across America were in despair and concerned for their future. Addressing the nation in his first inaugural address, President Roosevelt calmed the country with words that mirrored today’s verses reminding the all that there was “Nothing To Fear, But Fear Itself.”

Likewise, God’s Word in each of these three quotations from Psalms, 1 Peter and 1 Kings also reminds us of this important principle.

You see, a semi-tractor trailer’s SHADOW passing at high speed over you cannot run you over, neither can the ROAR of a lion way off in the forest attack you, and while Elijah’s THREAT from Jezebel was ominous, written messages cannot inflict physical harm. In each of these cases it wasn’t the implied danger that was real, but instead embracing and receiving the FEAR that each of these remote, harmless assertions attempted to falsely affirm.

365 times in scripture - in one form or another - we are instructed to 'Fear Not' because our advisory the devil uses FEAR as his #1 tool to control your thoughts and actions.

If you are experiencing fear at this time, remember this:

“Be strong and courageous.
DO NOT FEAR or be in dread of them,
FOR IT IS THE LORD YOUR GOD WHO GOES WITH YOU.
He will not leave you or forsake you.” - Deuteronomy 31:6
