Years ago I lived in a small apartment on Capitol Hill, and back in those days D.C. wasn’t very safe and crime was everywhere.

One day glancing out my window two guys in black hoodies mugged a young intern, beat him to the ground and briskly walked away. Quickly putting on a pair of sandals I went out to check to see if the fellow was OK. By then the thugs were then about a block away, and although it was a very cold winter day I impulsively decided to follow them, but after about three blocks wearing just a long sleeve shirt on a freezing winter day I began to wonder exactly what I as doing!

At the fourth block they turned left and I walked across the street and I also turned left too only to see them waiting for me hiding across the street. Instead of two big guys, was one a small short kid and the other a tall skinny kid of high school age. Once they saw me they walked towards me and shouted and confidently said, “Hey! You followin’ Us?!”

I angrily said, “I saw what you did to that intern, and I’m not going to let you get away with it!” and the short kid brazenly replied, “So whatcha think you’re goin do to us, huh?!” as they stepped closer.

Back in those days, I seriously worked out in a gym every day and was in a boxing class twice a week and thought to myself, 'Man, I take these two kids!' and I stole a line from a Jackie Chan movie and pointed at the little guy first and said,

“First I am going to kick your ass, and then
I’m going to kick YOUR ASS!“

At that point the little guy pulled out a knife, and I stood up straight, put my hands on my hips and in my best black-momma imitation said, “Man, you can’t fight me like a man? You gotta go to the KNIFE?!? Ok, let’s see what you got!”

The look on their faces immediately turned from menacing to mousy and the little guy immediately put down the knife grumbling “We gots no time for this!” and they both briskly walked away. Fortunately a car had stopped at the corner, saw the incident and called 911 and a minute or two later a police car came and I pointed in the direction the kids were headed. A few minutes later a half dozen cops were in the area and apprehended them.

I am NOT sharing this to show my 'bravery' but to demonstrate that When We Are Strong In Christ The Enemy Has No Power Over Us. As today’s verse in James confirms:
All I did - and all we need do is RESIST,
and the enemy has no choice
BUT TO FLEE!.

While I was PHYSICALLY PREPARED, in the spiritual realm we all must be SPIRITUALLY PREPARED when encountering the enemy, so be in your spiritual gym ready to confidentially use the Word Of God to box away the false threats of the devil with AUTHORITY AND CONFIDENCE.

Friend our adversary is a Roaring Lion, but when you resist him, like those two thugs, he has no choice
BUT TO FLEE.
