A Matter Of
LIFE
-or-
DEATH

“I set before you
The way of life and
The way of death.”

Hosea 4:6

MountainClimbingDanger Mt. Shasta is one of California’s tallest mountains and being young (and inexperienced) foolishly agreed to scale it with some friends.

About 1,000 feet from the top we stopped to rest with a choice of two divergent paths leading to the summit. My experienced buddies choose the shorter but more difficult approach to the top but I was too tired to keep up and made a very foolish decision by going it alone along the other longer, easier path that hooked around the back of the plateau to a giant red rock below the summit.

Behind 'red rock' was a razor thin path hugging along a high vertical rock wall. At the end of that path the wall was low enough to get up to the plateau below the summit, however the path ran precariously along the top of a steep icy slope that descended over one thousnd yards to the abyss below. One slip meant an unstoppable slide to certain death.

I proceeded cautiously, stepping carefully along previous cleat tracks but just as I almost reached the lowest section of the wall the entire path collapsed and I sunk down to my waist in snow.

Here I was faced with a dilemma.

The path back had also collapsed and the only way to save myself was to reach my hands and ice pick as high as I could and with Unresolved Committment pull myself up. This was the only way that I could be SAVED, but if I did not fully commit myself, I’d backslide uncontrollably down into the abyss and be LOST.

And Then It HIT Me.

The Very Next Thing I’d Do Would Determine If I
LIVED OR DIED.

While the seriousness of today’s scripture verse may not seem close at hand, the gravity of your life situation is no different from that place on Mt. Shasta. Each moment is a point where you will either be SAVED by reaching up to God, or be LOST and backsliding down into the abyss where you will never be found.

Friend, this path of life is precarious and unpredictable. You never know when your path will collapse from under you.

Has this realization 'HIT' you too? That the difference between saving your life or being lost depends on being fully committed to your salvation?

Friend, don’t also make a “Foolish Decision” and go it alone. Reach up for Christ and
You Will Be SAVED.

God Bless Your Day
