Facing An
Irreconcilable
Difference

“The other disciples therefore said unto him,
'We have seen the LORD.'
But he (Thomas) said unto them,
Except I shall see in his hands the print of the nails,
And put my finger into the print of the nails,
And thrust my hand into his side,
I WILL NOT BELIEVE.

John 20:25

DoubtingThomas Thomas, as one of Jesus’ twelve disciples, personally walked with Christ, sat under his teaching, and not only witnessed his many miracles, but under his tutelage performed miracles as well. Yet after Christ’s crucifixion and hearing from his friends that Jesus had appeared to them in the upper room and was in fact not dead but had resurrected, he didn’t believe it. Standing there with incongruous Irreconcilable Difference towards his comrades, in modern vernacular, his response went something like this:

“No, guys. I don’t believe Jesus rose from the dead. We all knew him as a very great and good man for sure - and a kind and loving teacher and an example for all of us, but he was just a man. So face it guys, IT’S OVER — He’s DEAD — and it’s not possible anyone could rise from the dead, but I tell you what... If I could actually put my hand into those nail prints and his pierced side then I would believe he is alive and really did rise from the dead.”

Over the last 2,000 years a lot of people have also been a “Doubting Thomas” feel exactly how Thomas felt with the same Irreconcilable Difference that no resurrection from death is impossible so therefore Jesus is not god or a savior but is no different than other great religious figureheads such as Buddha, Muhammad, Confucius or Zoroaster.

Friend, this raises a question for many and that is when Jesus asked Peter “How do YOU say that I am?” How do you respond? If you believe it, say and pray this verse from the Gospel of John 10:9 —

”If you will CONFESS with your mouth the Lord Jesus,
and BELIEVE in your heart that
GOD HAS RAISED HIM FROM THE DEAD,
you will be SAVED.”

John 10:9

Did Jesus rise from the dead?!?

YOU DECIDE...
