In the great 19th century hymn
'Jesus Paid It All' the hymn writer aptly
summed up what Christ did in the cross as the sacrificial
lamb that cleansed us from our sins concluding in the verse
'Sin Has Left A Crimson STAIN (but)
He Washed It White As Snow.'
For all that believe, it is indeed the Blood of Christ that washes away
our sin, yet as imperfect beings with a sin nature, we still live
in a fallen world and are subject in this life to the “filthiness
of the flesh and spirit“ (2 Corinthians 7:1) and this requires us
DAILY to pick up our cross, follow Christ, and be WASHED by the WORD of God.
Jesus tells us in John 15:3 that “You are clean through the Word I have
spoken to you,” but this is not a one-time event. That is why it is
vital to DAILY be in God’s Word and let the cleansing water of life
fall and wash and refresh us every day.
Friend, Water is LIFE, and the Word of God is LIFE.
As you daily bathe your body, are you
daily bathing your soul?
