In 1949, Cadillac offered the most advanced, luxurious car in the world.
It featured an uncommon and then powerful V-8 engine,
electric windows, power steering, and an automatic transmission
- options not even available at that time from Rolls Royce.
When you arrived in a '49 Cadillac you had The BEST of
what the world had to offer. However, arrive today in that old car
and it will have deteriorated into a pile of corrupted
moth-eaten seats and rusted chrome.
1 Corinthians 3:12-14 puts this into an eternal perspective saying,
“Now if any man build upon this foundation
gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble;
Every man’s work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it,
because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try
every man’s work of what sort it is.
If any man’s work abide which he hath built thereupon,
he shall receive a reward.” The question to ponder here is
what will be the nature of that reward!
While there is nothing wrong with having beautiful things,
as Jesus also said, our life does not consist in the abundance
of what we have (Luke 12:15) and just as like an old Cadillac
will have no value in eternity.
Friend, your riches, possessions, deeds, works, awards, degrees,
or self-righteousness will not take you beyond the veil into eternity.
Acts 4:12 says that there is “…no salvation in no one else,
for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which
we must be saved,” and that is in - and through - Jesus Christ.
On what are you building your life upon?
