If you were to ask most people to
fill in the blank “God is _______”
the answer you’d most likely get in
today’s culture would be LOVE, and
while that is certainly true, it is not God’s
most significant attribute.
In addition to 'Love' there are over 100
occurrences of “God Is” in the Bible,
and a short list of those include that GOD IS:
- One Lord - Deuteronomy 6:4
- Merciful - Deuteronomy 4:31
- Gracious - 2 Chronicles 30:9
- Faithful - 1 Corinthians 1:9
- Light - 1 John 1:5
- TRUE - John 3:33
God , in essence, is the purity and perfection of ALL that is GOOD —
but more than anything —
God’s greatest attributes of all is that
he is HOLY and RIGHTEOUS.
Holiness is a serious thing, and in order to stand before
a Holy God, it requires us to die to your old fleshly sinful nature
and be BORN AGAIN in the spirit.
It cannot come through our deeds, works, efforts, or thoughts,
but as Titus 3:5 says “Not by works of righteousness
which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us,
by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost.”
Friend, God’s highest character quality is HOLINESS
and as 1 Peter 1:15 reminds is:
“But as he which hath called you is holy,
so BE YE HOLY in all manner of conversation (i.e. living)”
