As a teenager, I became friends with a
boy name Jack. We rode bikes and played games with the other
kids in the neighborhood and
everyone got along OK, but every once and awhile
Jack would say or do something that just
did not sound or seem right.
One day while standing in his driveway by their pale green
VW Karmann Ghia, I finally understood why Jack was the way he was.
Jack’s father came out of the house and we were all talking
about the car when Jack’s dad made a comment about the Ghia.
“That back seat folds down, and when you fold it up there’s
a little rubber hook that will hold it up again, but mine broke.”
He then paused for a minute while a slightly crooked smile came
across his face, and then he said, “I guess I’ll have to
find one in another Karman Ghia and
Liberate It”.
At that moment it became clear where Jack was getting his character.
Just as Christian pastor and psychologist, Dr. James Dobson said,
when it comes to raising children, “Values Are CAUGHT
rather than TAUGHT” and in that light, we are all molded and
formed by the examples set for us.
Friend, be we children or adults, follow the way of Godly Righteousness
and it will always lead to a good end.
