Mention Satan or 'The Devil' and the image that
most comes to mind is of a terrifying,
frightening and horrid being, however nothing could be
further from the truth. Instead 2 Corinthians 11:14 says
Satan disguises himself and deceives people by
appearing beautiful and appealing as “An Angel of Light.”
Others in contradiction retort instead that THERE IS NO PERSONAGE of a devil or
Satan — but that is NOT what Jesus Christ said
about this very real entity.
In John 8:44 Jesus confirms Satan’s identity and character
and warns us that there was no truth in him
and that he is:
“The Father of Lies.“.
Today the misleading activities of Satan are all around us
in the world in media, tech, popular culture and politics and
he has dominion over these and other things because
the Bible says that he is the “Prince Of This World”
(John 12:31) The danger is that as we navigate through this life -
especially with the advent of AI systems - it will become increasingly
difficult to discriminate between what is true or not true.
That’s why we are warned to “Believe not every spirit
(i.e. everything we see or hear), but try the spirits whether
they are of God.” (1 John 4:1)
Be aware, Friend! Falsehoods, deceptions, and lies will not appear
through a scary red-suited cartoonish devil, but just as Eve was
fooled in the Garden of Eden, deceptions instead will appear to be
“Pleasant to the eyes.” (Genesis 3:6)
