Peace Be Still
“Be still and Know that I AM GOD”
Psalm 46:10
Finding peace in this volatile, vacillating
and even violent world is not easy, yet the Bible
tells us this is not only possible,
but it’s God’s promise to us!
The Bible tells us clearly to not be continually looking
to the turmoil around us, but to keep looking straight ahead
(Proverbs 4:25) and observe God’s ways – which by implication
also means not looking at what is happening around us in this
tumultuous life (Proverbs 23:26).
We are only human, so it’s easy to fall into a state of
anxiety and fear, because we want God to come and rescue
and shelter us from any kind of tumult happening to us.
Yet we must remember that we are not alone and helpless
because we have the power of prayer and faith in God
to strengthen and help us.
When the disciples saw Jesus walking on the water thinking,
they were AFRAID, but He said, “Take courage; it is I,
do not be afraid.” When Jesus got into the ship,
the wind and waves subsided and PEACE MADE STILL.
Just as it was for the disciples, when we walk by FAITH
and not by FRIGHT
we can have peace through any storm. Even in the most distressing of
circumstances and despite threat of war, financial collapse,
or economic calamity - FEAR NOT - knowing that God is
always in control of every situation, not only in your life,
but also in the world despite how disturbing,
frightening or uncertain things may appear.
So keep this promise of Jesus close to your heart
and with Peace BE STILL:
“Peace I leave with you
Not as the world gives
For My peace I give you.
Let not your heart be troubled,
Neither let it be afraid.”
John 14:27
