An evangelist was once asked, “How can I start a revival?”
and he answered, “Go home, lock yourself in your room,
kneel down in the middle of the floor, draw a chalk mark all
around yourself and pray for God to start the revival inside that
chalk mark. When He has answered your prayer, the revival will be on.”
It all comes down to this — Prayer ignites a person’s
heart and passion for the lost to come to Christ. Then when that happens,
wait on the Lord and He will give you His direction.
In Psalm 51, David sought to re-kindle his own spiritual joy and passion for
souls after a period of spiritual depression, sin, and gnawing guilt, and to
bring revival for other others. (Psalm 51:3, 4, 12, 13). If you read these
verses, notice how we also must acknowledge God’s unfailing love, confess our sin,
plead for a new heart, seek the joy of salvation for ourselves and others,
and pray for the Holy Spirit.
Is your heart aching for revival to break out in your town, city or in the world?
If so, follow the direction of the evangelist in the story above and pray:
Dear Heavenly Father,
Please stir up my passion for the lost so that wherever I am I may to bring as
many souls as I can to your heart. Renew in me a new, soul-winning revival
because the world is falling deeper and deeper into sin. Let your light be the
light that shines into each soul I meet who needs you.
In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen
