One of the biggest struggles that people have in life is holding anger, hatred, and
unforgiveness towards someone that has hurt or harmed them. Maybe you feel that way towards
someone as well, and Jesus spoke very directly about this in the Lord’s Prayer when he said,
“Forgive us the wrongs we have done, as we forgive the wrongs that others have done
to us.” (Matthew 6:12)
When we forgive others as Christ commanded us to do, two things happen. First we release the pent-up
anger we have held inside that has broken a relationship between you and that person, but secondly
it opens the door for love to flow from you to them, and possibly from them to you as well.
You see, true forgiveness is a child of love. When we exercise forgiveness totally and fully
as Jesus commanded us then what was once broken - both inside of us, but also broken between you and
another - is made WHOLE. Reconciliation through forgiveness is making PEACE between you
and another, and while the Hebrew word SHALOM means 'Peace' it also means
WHOLE. Therefore when you truly forgive, you bring Wholeness, not only to a broken
relationship, but to that which was broken inside of you.
Friend, forgiveness is NOT easy, but the peace and wholeness that you will realize when you forgive is a far greater
blessing than the agony of discord and contention that you struggle with now. If you are in discord with someone, take the first step
RIGHT NOW and make the decision to Decide to Forgive. You most likely will not feel that in your heart, but as time
progresses under the Holy Spirit’s guidance, the next steps to piecing back together you and another WILL manifest.
When it does, watch love then flow in the WHOLENESS of FORGIVENESS!
