Freedom In Christ
Requires Discipline

“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ,
he is a new creature;
old things have passed away;
behold, all things have become new.”

2 Corinthians 5:17

tight-rope-discipline When we accept Christ as our Lord and Savior, we are set free from sin and clothed with the same nature as Christ. However, in order to operate fully in His nature, just as Jesus instructed His disciples this new-found freedom requires a very important component called DISCIPLINE.

Though we live in this fallen world, God is always calling us to live separate and apart from it, avoiding things that will cause us to fall and slip backwards from the faith and truth we found when we first accepted Jesus into our hearts. We must always be aware and on guard to avoid things that lead to sin such as an unforgiving spirit, gossip, being judgmental, criticism, pride, self-centeredness, lying, stealing, offensiveness, defensiveness, and a myriad of other bad practices. The question is How Do We Develop This Divine Discipline? and the answer is simple - to immerse ourselves in God’s Word.

God’s Word strengthens our mind, our will, and emotions and helps us to grow up in Christ. At first we are like babies nursing milk reading different verses, chapters and books in the Bible, but as we keep our eyes focused on meditating what the Holy Spirit is teaching us, we begin living by what He says, taking on a disciplined nature and applying Godly Principles it in every kind of situation, as we are instructed:

“For bodily exercise profits a little, but
godliness is profitable for all things,
having promise of the life that now is and
that which is to come.”

1 Timothy 4:8-9

“ Beloved, we are new in our spirit,
but we have certain disciplines as believer’s to
not use our freedom in the wrong way, not for sin.”

Galatians 5:13-14

My friend, there is nothing more precious than the freedom we have in Jesus Christ, but we also have a responsibility to reflect our Lord’s nature in all we do by BEING DISCIPLINED. When you do, you will enjoy the full favor of God’s blessings and never fall from grace.
