I have a close childhood friend who is an exceptionally avid reader and one day I asked her,
“How many books do you think you have read in your life time?”
Without hesitation she answered, “probably three thousand!!” Wow!
That’s amazing, isn’t it? So how many books have you read in your life time?
But even more important than that, how many of those books have changed your life or made you a better person?
There are many that can inform, but only God’s Holy Book can transform you.
Webster says that to transform means to go through dramatic change in the form, appearance,
or character of something.
Think of the caterpillar and the dramatic change from an ugly brown cocoon to the beautiful colors
of a butterfly flying through the sky. This is a similar process we experience when Jesus Christ
comes into our lives when the old restrictive cocoon of sin that once bound us up is replaced by
the freedom of flight to light.
So how can this transformation begin? The first step is letting go of pride and a self-righteous attitude,
admit that you are a sinner, and asking God to forgive you of your sins. When people do this,
the Holy Spirit of God enters our hearts and fills us with the presence of God.
If you do this truly and sincerely, you will become increasingly aware that something has changed inside of your
being and the transformation will have its start.
Immediately you will have a desire to put away things that have no meaning or purpose, want to stop old destructive habits
and desire to live a life that is pleasing clean and holy unto God. You’ll be drawn to read,
learn and understand the Bible and make it your #1 book, and find Christian friends who truly love the Lord and walk
with Him and every day.
This is what it means to be changed inside and out as Apostle Paul wrote in today’s scripture.
So will you choose to shed your shell of sin and spread your wings into freedom from sin and eternal life?
Come to Him today! Christ want to transform you and have you spread your wings and be changed INSIDE AND OUT!
