Do You Have Patience?

“My brethren, count it all joy
when you fall into various trials,
knowing that the testing of
your faith produces patience.
But let patience have its
perfect work, that you may
be perfect and complete,
lacking nothing.”

James 1:3

Being impatient is a sign of our
intolerance of the imperfections of others.

Patience means:
To be calm while enduring
a time of waiting.

“Now we exhort you, brethren, warn those who are unruly, comfort the fainthearted, uphold the weak, be patient with all.”
1 Thessalonians 5:14

Impatience can also be a sign of pride, or hidden anger. It’s not about someone causing you to wait. It is that you are no longer in control of your emotions or reactions, and you are having to do what your flesh does not like. Wait!

Are you impatient because you are late for an appointment? Do you remember hearing about this? One of the survivor’s from 911 was late to work that day and missed his train. He was upset until he saw the towers go down. If God had not spared his life, he would have been at the top of that twin tower building.

Patience is one of the Fruits of The Spirit. It is one of the characteristics of Christ. Are you asking how do I acquire it? By practice, my friend, practice until it becomes second nature to you. We need patience as we walk in faith. How often have you prayed for something and longed to see the answer? Patience and faith must be joined together. Faith says, “I know God is answering.” Patience says, “I am willing to wait on God’s perfect timing and His perfect will for my life.”

If you are patient bear with others who are not yet on this journey with you in Christ. Everyone is at a different place in their spiritual growth, so be patient with them. When you center yourself in patience you are showing all those around you Jesus. They will see His light inside you and desire to have this same kind of patient countenance you have. Then the door will open for you to offer them the patient love of Jesus.
