People Trapped In
Darkness by a
False Light

“The god of this world
hath blinded
the minds of them which believe not,
lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ,
who is the image of God,
should shine unto them.”

2 Corinthians 4:4

An article on 4/17/2019 on the “The Daily Mail” (UK) website [ ref: (Just 1 in 50 people can see stars as nature intended) ] raised a real physical dilemma and phenomena of the modern age, but it also highlights a spiritual one as well. As we are so much into a high tech world of not only communication and media, we have also become a highly electrified godless world blinding us from the real world.

The use of electricity came into being in the late 1800’s and with it an end to thousands of years of nighttime darkness. Before then all of humanity could easily see how “The Heavens declared the Glory of God” (Psalm 19:1) but today modern “light” all but obfuscates God’s Glory of creation.

This blackout (or whiteout) of heaven is especially experienced in all large urban areas. Perhaps this is no truer than in “sin city” Las Vegas where blazing lights of casinos on the famous (or even infamous “strip”) blaze brightly both night and day and all but obliviate any hope of seeing the stars above as well as dazzle the eyes of those at the gaming tables with all the glitz and glamor that the world has to offer.

While it is called “light” it is really an artificial light. Vegas’ existence is an entirely man-made one in a desert that has no water and no power. Everything that is brought in is artificial. This void is also a perfect metaphor for the state of many regarding the ability to truly see the Creator in true light.

Today’s scripture points to the fact that the god of this world - Satan - blinds people from the truth of God in ways that they are not even aware of. The “bright lights” of things on earth can be convincing distractions to the goodness that God wants us to see. The trick is that many of these things in and of themselves are not evil or wrong (such as family, career, money/success, hobbies or talent) but when that is all we live for, we are living under a FALSE light.

God is looking for those looking for HIM, but in order to do so, you have to get out of the dark light of the world that keeps you from seeing the TRUE LIGHT. Jesus put it this way:

“ I am the light of the world:
he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness,
but shall have the light of life.

John 8:12

What “light” are you walking in? Is it TRUE light or FALSE light? Choose to walk with He who is the “Light of the World!”.
