I Bet Hell Is Fabulous!!

(Don’t Count on It!)

“The smoke of their torment
goes up forever and ever
and they have no rest day and night””

Revelation 14:11

There are many that would rather be in Hell than Heaven. What! You Say? Yes it’s true, and the picture of this young lady is not an exception – there are actually many people that would prefer to be in hell, but sadly for the wrong reasons.

Cartoons of heaven often picture it as a place of cold, white fluffy clouds with a pearly gate manned by St. Peter looking at your life history in a big book weighing how naughty-or-nice you have been. If you are good enough, once inside there are fat little cupid-like angels playing harps, endlessly exasperatingly bright light that never lets you sleep or chill out and choirs singing annoyingly 24/7. In other words, heaven is a totally boring place that would NOT be fun.

On the other hand, hell is a happening place! It is one big party where we all can have a good time and hang out with our friends. Hell is where all the cool people go and want to be. There is a giant open bar, free drugs, lots of sex and do what-the-devil-may-care! Some in this life (seriously) have reported that the devil has promised them that if they would worship and serve him in this earthly life that they would “Rule With Him In His Kingdom In Hell” and have positions of great esteem and power.

The Bible however paints a very, very different picture of what hell is like. Hell is a place of eternal punishment (Matthew 25:46) where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth [extreme regret!] (Matthew 13:50) a place of eternal fire (Jude 1:7), total darkness (2 Peter 2:4) and continual torment (Revelation 14:10). There is no rest, no communication with others, stench beyond belief, and continual ghastly screaming. Once there, there is no hope or escape…for eternity.

Well the only thing true about the stories above is that there IS a book – the BOOK OF LIFE (Revelation 20:12) and all those whose names are in that book will be with God in paradise in heaven, or:

“ If anyone’s name was not found
written in the book of life, he was
thrown into the lake of fire.
(i.e. Hell and Eternal Death)

Revelation 20:15

How do you get into the Book of Life?? It is not based by being naughty-or-nice, but by confessing your sin to God, asking him to forgive you, and following and believing in Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour. Do not be misled by the popular pictures of these cartoonish lives in eternity. Make up your mind today which actual place you really want to be. That choice, regardless of what you may think, is entirely up to you.
