Rest in Peace (or) Rest in Pieces
“Some will go away to eternal punishment, but the righteous others to eternal life.”
Matthew 25:46
(paraphrased)
When people die, we often see written on a tombstone or use the phrase “Rest in Peace.”
At mournful gravesides, friends, relatives, and associates often reminisce warmly over how
wonderful their departed friend was and earnestly wish this comforting phrase over the departed.
While this is true for some, it will not be true for all.
In today's scripture verse, Jesus tells us plainly that when life on this earth ends,
we will enter eternity one of two ways; either whole and in PEACE,
or broken and in PIECES. He elaborates further saying:
“..but on whomsoever it shall fall (i.e. the judgement for sin),
it will grind him to powder.”
Matthew 21:44
The word for “grind to powder” is the same word in Matthew 3:12 where
John the Baptist says “His winnowing
fork is in his hand, and he will clear his threshing floor, gathering his wheat into the barn and burning
up the chaff with unquenchable fire.” Here the wheat represents the righteous fruit of his people,
and the chaff the broken pieces that are seperated violently and broken that will face a horrible eternal punishment.
Friend, if this message offends you please carefully re-think which “P” you are in R.I.P.
God's will is that NONE be lost but all come to repentence (see 2 Peter 3:9).
People make a concious choice to choose which “P” they want to be. Peace with Christ is available simply
by confessing that you are a sinner, asking God to forgive you of your sins and making God the LORD of your life.
When you ask him to forgive you, his righteousness becomes your righteousness (2 Corinthians 5:21).
If you have not done so, please do so right now and rest in peace today knowing that your eternity can be secure.
God Bless Your Day
