An Eye for an “I”

“I (Lucifer)will ascend
above the tops of the clouds;
I will make myself like the Most High God.”

Isaiah 14:14

Where do “evils” come from? It comes from having an eye on ourselves and putting “I” at the center of our lives as the most important thing above all else.

The Greek word for “I” is ego - and this base verb is translated as “I AM.” When Moses inquired to the LORD “Who shall I say sent me?” he replied in Exodus 3:14 “Tell them I AM that I AM sent you” (phrased.) God is essentially the great “I” - yet error always occurs when we put our ego first.

Grammatically there are some interesting things about the letter “i.” God’s most powerful and beautiful creation, Lucifer, had the idea that he could be greater than God. But look at his name carefully...perhaps by design or maybe just by “coincidence” the “I” of his EGO is right in the middle of his name! Therefore Lucifer was the first to disobey God and place him first, so it is no coincidence that we see an “I” in the middle of many other ego-oriented words and actions:

  • sin
  • pride
  • crime
  • evils
  • lying
So let us all be careful to recognize, honor, and praise who the great I AM is and put our (small-case ego) aside by taking your eye off the “i” and follow the words of Micah 7:7

“Therefore I will look unto the LORD; I will wait for the God of my salvation: my God will hear me.”
