Moving From
Grief To Wholeness

“The Lord is near to the brokenhearted
And saves the crushed in spirit.”

Psalm 34:18

GriefInDeath Nothing in life can prepare us for the death of a loved one, whether it be a sudden accident or a long illness — it always catches us off-guard. Death is so deeply personal and stunningly final that nothing can emotionally prepare us for its arrival. With every death there is a loss, and with that loss comes Grief.

Grief doesn’t come and go in an orderly, confined timeframe, and when it comes how do we bare it? We hope to move past it quickly – be it a few days or weeks - but there is often a struggle between coming to grips and confronting our grief.

Grief, however, is a necessary part of our healing, but just as when facing any time of crisis in life, it is always helpful to draw close to God and use the wisdom of the Bible as the essential balm to aid in our healing and help us through any crisis.

Feel free to grieve, because it is part of the process God uses to bring us to a place of wholeness — but remember this...

Our God is a healer and restorer of hearts and souls and he has given us spiritual balms to complete healing and return to wholeness in and through the Word of God.

To work through your loss and grief, apply these powerful promises of scripture:

  • “Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.” Matthew 5:4
  • “He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.” Psalm 147:3

Friend, God desires to heal your broken heart, “So cast all your cares upon him, because he cares for you.” (1 Peter 5:7)
