The “Prosperity Gospel”

“Whatever you desire, when you pray,
believe that you will receive them,
and you will have what you say“

Mark 11:24

There is a great debate among Christians - and criticism by non-believers - about the so-called "Prosperity Gospel."

Scoffers rightfully point to mega-church pastors with their mansions, expensive clothes and elaborate salaries. Christians also condemn the "sow a seed" approach used by these and other ministers which promise ‘prosperity’ as a reward for their financial faithfulness "into my ministry."

On the other hand, ardent advocates of this teaching recite the verse above and other scriptures to "Proclaim it and Name It" with the expectation that "whatsoever ye desire" will be given to you. All you have to do is "speak unto that mountain and not doubt and it will happen" (see Mark 11:23)

So is the "Prosperity Gospel" true or false? The answer is both YES and NO...but it depends on the way and purpose to which it is applied.

God is not an ATM machine, Santa Claus, or unlimited Amazon gift card. While you can ‘claim and proclaim’ a new google.translate.TranslateElement({pageLanguage: ''}, 'google_translate_element'); Used this way, the ‘Prosperity Gospel’ is an erroneous, misleading, and false teaching.

However, the Prosperity Gospel, when applied correctly IS true...but here is the key; you have to ASK according to GOD’S WILL, not your own will.

When we are truly walking in God, we want to do what God wants to do. In other words, his will is our will...and not the other way around!!

In James 4:3 it says "Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss." When we pray, our prayers are answered and our "speaking unto that mountain" will happen as we ask in faith, but only if it is the Lord’s will. The best instruction to applying the Prosperity Gospel is here:

“ And this is the confidence that we have in him,
that, if we ask any thing according to his will,
he heareth us:
And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask,
we know that we have the petitions
that we desired of him.

1 John 5:14-15

So YES, the "Prosperity Gospel" is TRUE, and we shall "have what ye say" but ONLY if it is in accordance to God’s Will. God deems ‘prosperity’ in a variety of ways, so pray accurately. Ask according to the desire of God’s heart and his Word, and his will will be done and "thou shalt have great success" (Joshua 1:8)
