The Blurring of
Reality and Illusion

“For false Messiahs and false prophets will appear;
they will perform great miracles and wonder
in order to deceive even God’s chosen people, if possible.”

Matthew 24:24

In 1977, Star Wars dazzled the world with special effects that initiated a whole other level of movie making. People loved the story and universally left theaters exclaiming, “Wow! The Special Effects Were REALLY INCREDIBLE!” Other movies followed years later that upped the effects ante to the point that today we take cinematic magic for granted. What we see now looks so authentic that we don’t question that what we see is not real or possible.

Today the bar is even higher when AI (Artificial Intelligence) is applied. Videos can now be produced that are so real and convincing that completely blur reality from illusion. The result is that we cannot with certainty believe anything we see in the movies or news with absolute certainty...but let’s take this one step further.

Suppose for a moment that a fleet of large flying saucers landed, immediately ended hunger and disease and proclaimed that they were our true gods - only asking to be worshipped as such. Now I am NOT SAYING or projecting this, but what if that happened? People would naturally believe it because the optics were so real that what they were seeing and experiencing that it would just have to be true.

Wait! I am NOT making a political or prophetic statements here, but a factual one about a future time that today’s scripture references when fantastic events (miracles, signs, and wonders) will appear so real and authentic that the vast majority of the world will believe it. Jesus said it best:

“(the Devil) has never stood for the truth, because there’s no truth in him.
Whenever that liar speaks, he speaks according to his own nature,
because he’s a liar and the father of liars.”

John 8:44

Don’t believe everything you see, read or hear. We have been conditioned via movies for decades to see and believe the most incredible things, but that does not mean that those or other things today or tomorrow are real or true. There is only one reliable source by which we can accurately separate truth from lies and that is God’s Word, The Bible. Use it as a sure filter to guide your way and shield you from illusion and you will never believe a lie.
