Activate The
Mind of Christ

“Let the words of my mouth
and the meditation of my heart,
Be acceptable in Your sight,
O Lord, my strength and my redeemer.”

Psalm 19:14

Have you ever heard someone say; "You know me I am going to speak my mind!" Hopefully it will be to say the right thing at the right time, but this is often not the case. When the wrong thing is spoken at in an impulsive moment out of anger, jealousy, or impatience, the price to pay for words cannot be taken back.

There are nine fruits of the spirit and the last one is called “self control”. The tongue that is controlled by the Holy Spirit will speak good, uplifting and healing words, and bring peace to a situation or comfort to one who is hurting.

“The Lord has given me the tongue of the learned,
That I should know how to speak a word in season
to him who is weary.
He awakens Me morning by morning,
He awakens My ear to hear as the learned.”

Isaiah 50:4

Sometimes it is very difficult to do, but when we put ourselves in the other persons place, we will know how to speak healing words, not harsh words that bruise or scar another’s feelings. We must come to realize the power of words because in them they carry one of two things; either Life or death.

James 1:19 says, “Let everyone be quick to hear [be a careful, thoughtful listener], slow to speak [ a speaker of carefully chosen words and], slow to anger [patient, reflective]”. God wants us to be slow to answer someone if you are in the wrong attitude about what they are saying, so listen to their words with our hearts, not just with our own carnal interpretation. We must strive to deactivate our offensive mind and activate the mind of Christ who lives inside of us so that we will give the right responses, answers, and decisions in any situation effectively in a mature and rational way.

My friend if you have issues with flying off the handle by saying things you wish you hadn’t said, allow the Holy Spirit to control your tongue, and ask Him to help you exercise it all the time. Then there will be peace in your soul with no regrets and no need to repent.
