Yes, No
or
“Present?”

When people are asked a difficult, uncomfortable question, instead of a direct answer a common tendency is to instead use a lot of oblique words and round about speech. Politicians in particular are famous for doing this when asked anything that could put them in a bad light, especially when voting on controversial topics. Instead of a definitive YEAH OR NAY they cop-out and answer “Present”.

In today’s scripture Jesus puts this question of decisively answering directly to be either TRUE or FALSE or YES or NO. However unlike a politician in the halls of government when it comes to our eternal destiny, we don’t have the luxury of saying “Present” because at some point You Have To Make A Choice about God and his offer of salvation, and these are the questions all must answer:

• “Do you believe Christ resurrected from the dead?”
• “Do you believe that you need to be saved from sin?”

These are certainly very direct and challenging questions and a weak 'present' won’t do. Your answer can only be a YES or NO - present won’t cut it.

Certainly some reading this will dismiss these questions as not relevant, valid, or applicable to your life, but if so, you just voted NO, and that is OK. Everyone has free will to do and decide, say, and think as they please. God is a gentleman. He will not force himself on anyone, yet it is up to you to make a decision.

Friend, tomorrow may not give you an opportunity to answer before it is to late, so please take a minute right now and ask yourself in answering these two questions:

YES
or
NO.
