The Danger Of
Looking Back

We remember the fish,
Which we did eat in Egypt freely
The cucumbers, and the melons,
And the leeks, and the onions
And the garlick.

Numbers 11:5

LeeksOfEgypt Walking forward with God and in Faith is not easy. It requires dying to our old self-nature and desires, denying yourself, putting your hand to the plow with eyes straight ahead to the heavenly goal set before us and NOT LOOKING BACK. It is not to be as Lot’s wife longing for the life she enjoyed in Sodom, or as the nation of Israel in the wilderness longing for the pleasures of Egypt.

1 John 2:15-17 sums this up succinctly saying:

“Do not love the world or the things in the world.
If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.
For all that is in the world—
The desires of the flesh and the desires of the eyes and pride of life
Is not from the Father but is from the world.
And the world is passing away along with its desires,
But whoever does the will of God abides forever.“

The Christian life and walk requires us to “Die To Self” (Philippians 1:21) to be “Alive To Christ ” (Romans 6:11) and to “Lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us“ in order to 'run with patience the race that is set before us.' (Hebrews 12:1)

Friend, are you are looking back and longing for those things that once were? If so, check your heart and abandon your old life, because “For ye are dead as to the world, and your life is hid with Christ in God.” (Colossians 3:3)

What God has for you is infinitely better than from where you came.
Look to God and DON’T LOOK BACK.
