Let’s be honest – most people are overweight,
and at year-end after the holidays, going on a
'diet' is a goal that most people do not keep
...so why is that?
Well, it’s because they continue to surround themselves with
food they want...but really ought not eat!
Likewise, Matthew 26:41 says that when we do, despite our best intentions,
“...the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak”
and as the title of this message and Paul’s admonition in Ephesians also says,
if or when we are comfortable continuing to entertain
thoughts, feelings, habits, or temptations contrary to God’s word,
we give the devil permission to do his work!
If and when we do, defeat is ALWAYS certain...
So what’s the solution? And
Galatians 6:8 gives us the answer saying:
“For he that soweth to his flesh
shall of the flesh reap corruption; but
he that soweth to the Spirit
shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting.”
Friend, you CANNOT defeat your demons if you are still enjoying
the presence of their company! As Paul said in Galatians,
when instead you feed your spirit with the Holy Spirit
and resist (and distance yourself) from temptation and
entertaining anything contrary to God’s way
this will ALWAYS lead to victory.
Of what are you surrounding yourself and sowing?
Corruptible things — or Christ?
